
There are a number of banks all within walking distance of the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion, including Bank of Montreal, Scotia Bank, Royal Bank ATM’s and a TD Canada Trust (all located on Charlotte Street – please refer to walking map). There is also a Credit Union on Townsend Street. (refer to map).
The Ceilidh that is held in the pavilion, “The Spirit of the Fiddle”, is brought to us by Atlantic Cruise Ship Services. There is an admission for this event and it is specialized for cruise ship days only.

We have three major car rental companies in Sydney, including Discount Car Rentals, Enterprise Rent a Car, and Budget, as well as Avis, Alamo and National. You can book a rental car by either phoning the companies directly, or by visiting the Visitor Information Centre in the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion upon arrival.
The Big Fiddle is a representation of the heritage in Cape Breton and reminds us of our unique musical background. There is a video featuring the making of the fiddle that plays continuously within the lighthouse theatre, inside the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion.
The Ceilidh Fiddle Bar is open on the second floor of the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion on cruise ship days. There is an elevator located on the first floor.
We have multiple nationalities that first settled in Cape Breton mainly because of the different industries that brought them here. There was Mi’kmaq, Portuguese, French, Acadian, Loyalists, Scottish, Irish and Black Loyalists.

Governor’s Pub has lobster, depending on the season. But you will find plenty of fresh seafood most of the restaurants listed abouve. Also, you can purchase seafood chowder at the Rangelight Cafe.
